After 30+ years working in the insurance industry as an actuary / strategist, I’m exploring an idea that could better connect insurance employers with talented people who live in more remote communities, while creating new pathways to remote, hybrid, and project-based work.

Before moving forward, we’d like to better understand what employers anticipate needing over the next several years—and where they see both opportunities and challenges in accessing the talent they need.

We already

have several responses in. But, as we say, data can come from all places....and a survey can speak volumes.

What do we see so far?

We are still at the tip of the iceberg in this study....but here is what we see so far

  • 59% of businesses cited finding the right people as their top barrier to hiring remote or project-based workers.

  • 30% of small companies cite a need for sales / lead generation for additional remote work | Larger companies focus more on technology

  • Nearly 50% of P&C insurance sector cited artificial intelligence skills for future work or expertise. Interestingly, the specificity in what AI would be used for was not fully articulated.
